We love food. We just really, really enjoy a good meal. I literally plan my next meal before I have finished eating my current meal. When it came to plannning our anniversary of course it had to focus around food.
I began a work placement on our anniversary so we decided to begin our celebrations the weekend before.
Since we first went to Hawksmoor for Rob's birthday we knew we would return for our Anniversary. On the Saturday we headed to Air Street for a hearty steak lunch.
We both ordered from the set menu which was fantastic value. We also ordered some extra sides. To start Rob had his favourite potted roast beef. There couldn't be a more perfect starter for him. I had the shrimps on toast, which was nice but not nearly as good as the crab I had last time. We both chose to have our steak medium rare. We split sides of triple cooked chips, creamed spinach, greens and mac and cheese. We both also had bone marrow gravy which is becoming a firm favourite. When we saw peanut butter shortbread on the dessert menu there was nothing that could stop me from sampling it. It was simply incredible - one of the best puddings I have ever had. I immediately declared that it would be our wedding dessert. Rob had an old fashioned cocktail after dinner. It's his absolute favourite.
After tea we headed for coffee. After all that food we were ready for a nap.
The following morning I arranged for some minion cupcakes to be delivered! Rob certainly approved.
The best food we enjoyed over our anniversary was most definitely the meal Rob cooked on our anniversary evening. I didnt get home until late but Rob planned the meal perfectly. We had duck in an incredible pomegranate sauce, sauté potatoes and asparagus. Just looking at the pictures makes me hungry again!
So that was our eight year anniversary. It was a fantastic weekend filled with amazing food and heart warming moments.
